Hi

So their new card system rather gives you "cash"on the card as you build up points?

But i cant use this money?

It has R169.08 "sms telling me my GB balance" on it so i wanted to get some fuel at Engin but the guy used the card but the terminal said card declined? So ignored it and went on

Next day i try getting food at Kfc again it says declined ?

Is there only n few places i can use this money or what?how does this card work.

Please assist.

AFAIK it's points, not money. There is a greenbacks online store where you can "spend" the points.

Having said that, I've found their rewards program a waste of time. I'm in the process of cancelling the card and moving over to FNB :D

You can only use GB points online or get Makro vouchers. Honestly, move over to FNB and get ebucks. Nedbank greenbacks are a complete waste of time.

From Greenbacks site:

All the Greenbacks you earn will automatically be loaded onto your Nedbank Greenbacks SHOP Card. You can then use your SHOP
Card online or at any store worldwide that accepts American Express®.

Yeah, good luck with that... :D

I didn't take the GB card because there is an annual fee to use it.

I'll just stick with the Makro vouchers.

Okay I didnt know that, we dont pay annual fees - various reasons

Ignore the haters - Makro vouchers are cool

I got my FNB CC in the week and my Cheque card last week. I done some research on the threads found in the forum and made the decision to ditch Nedbank and go for FNB.

I am now struggling with debit switching but all in all, FNB is faaaaaar better than Nedbank in this regard.

I do have a shop card

So i can use the card anywhere if the store uses american express cards? PnP,Clicks ect?

That's correct - it is an Amex card - so Woolworths as well. But not for petrol, they don't accept Amex

AFAIK you can even withdraw the balance as cash at an ATM?

Yes, you can withdraw directly from ATM, thus saving you issues where merchant doesn't accept American Express.

Not true!! I tried to use it at two different stores today and it was declined saying, "Contact your bank" I then went to the ATM to check the balance and it said "Remove the card" I know I have a LOT of points. Things like this really make me fed up.

Hi everybody, this is as far as I understand about Greenbacks (GB's),
hope it will help you too:

For every R36 you spend, you earn 1 GB, in rand value it equals R0.02777c, so effectively you are earning 2.7cents for every R36 you spend... not that great hey!

So if you earned 1000 GBs so far, it means you have spent R36 000, and your rand value to spend = 1000/36 = R27.77!

If you get the SHOP card, which says SHOP in gold all over the card, u can use this card directly at any merchant to spend the Rand value earned - its like a prepaid credit card that has money loaded on it...
so you can use this SHOP card anywhere, not the "AMEX debit/credit card" like some people try to do and have issues with (card declined, check with bank etc etc..) - it must be the unique "SHOP" card...

If you need to buy anything on the greenbacks store, just take the value of GB's required and divide by 36, you will get the value of the product you wish to buy...so a Blackberry Playbook at 290 000 GB's = R8 055.

To develop 290 000GB's will take the average Joe roughly 200 months to do... Thats 17 years!

If someone could share info like this on ebucks, that would really help us all a lot! Please do share...

Also, FNB/ebucks has made it so much more complicated with now being on different levels etc, please shed some light on this for all of us who dont know how the **** that works lol!

We will sincerely appreciate your efforts :)

regards,
Satz.
