Hey guys,

I had my cellphone stolen at the weekend and have a few questions regarding eligibility of upgrade.
My service provider is CellC however I believe Vodacom bought out my contract from the third party dealer I purchased the contract from. I don't want to have to purchase a new phone now and then get an upgrade in a couple months if avoidable.

My last upgrade was in December of 2014 and I was wondering if it is possible to do an early upgrade if I pay in a fee or something?

My contract cost me around R800/pm.

Any information will be greatly appreciated :)

My 2 cents: If you can register/login to My Vodacom and see what the dashboard has to say, you will see the upgrade there and from that you can also check your eligibility for a early upgrade. I did mine 4 months ahead of the end of contract.

I did try but I didn't have an account set up for my vodacom website (Cell C is my service provider and the contract was originally bought through a third party who recently sold my contract to vodacom)

Without having my phone (which was stolen) I'm not able to create an account because I cannot receive the confirmation message :./

I am confused. Cell C is your service provider but contract sold to Vodacom? :wtf: I doubt Vodacom will manage a Cell C contract........

A large portion of your contract is made up of the cost of the device. By buying a phone outright and getting a SIM only contract you will save a lot. Vodacom (I don't know the others) will charge you the SIM only price and them double the Minutes/SMS/Data. You can get very high spec'ed phones for a fraction of the cost of the "big" brands. Most are now supplied locally so come with, at least, a 6 month warranty and none of the import hassles. If you had to buy a new phone every 7 months it would still work out cheaper.
