Question re exchange upgrades

Hi guys

last few years I havent been able to play games online with a stable ping anywhere around peak time. I'm sure its congestion related. anyway recently telkom lay some fibre in my area and have dug up next to the dslam, cemented over it and there are some pipes sticking out now. Assuming an upgrade is happening, my question is how long does it take to complete usually?

Is it a concrete platform( about 3Mx 1.5 M ) with large pipes sticking out of it and is it next to a UMC ??
If so contractors put those in and a MSAN/ISAM is imminent but some times takes about 2 months some times just a few weeks ,what area ??

What about SDC units? Or do they only go next to current DSLAMs?

Yes i have seen them next to SDCs plenty going up in westville durban .

Hey man, thanks for your assistance. It is as you describe, and I'm in constantia. I had to google that term. bit of a technical noob so i use dslam liberally. it is indeed next to what looks like a UMC but it could also be a SDC - large grey box, smaller green telkom one adjacent

two months I can wait! few weeks even better. would the 20/40mb options be available right after implementation?

In Constantia also - they are busy with a couple of sites around here atm. However, none are within 2km of me
