Hi there, I was wondering what it means if my ping has increased after repairs to a DSLAM. My minimum (stable) ping before was 16 ms, and after having my line reconnected it sits at 23 ms.

I've always measured my ping via traceroutes to www.google.co.za

A ping change from 16 to 23 is nothing to be worried about , it's just the time your data takes to reach the google datacenter/server , if you did a trace route on eg. Google.co.uk it would display a higher ping , because the data has to travel a long distance and is going trough very busy fiber lines . But to be honest you wont even notice a change in online experience with a ping difference of "7" . So don't worry about the ping change

Might be due to the fact that everybody in the dslam got upgraded , and the line is more congested ?

There are many factors, such as busyness of exchange/downloads running etc
