Question regarding HTML downloads on Telkom ISP

Hi All,

Does anyone know why an HTML download via Telkom ISP stalls at around 65 Megs from the likes of Hotfile?

In Firefox / Chrome it says the file is still downloading, but it isn't.

If I do the same download through my Afrihost account it generally works just fine.

I suspect this might be because of Telkom's cache servers, but I have not found any way to get around this. It has been happening for the last six months.

Thanks for any input
IdlePhaedrus

PS, sorry if this is a repeated thread.

[Edit] Both my Telkom and Afrihost accounts are capped accounts.

I assume you mean HTTP downloads, unless you're downloading very big webpages :D

Are you using a download manager? Look at Jdownloader, it support downloads from file sharing sites like Hotfile.

Have decided to ditch Telkom ISP. A year ago they had the best un-shaped capped accounts, now they just suck.

PM'd Ranger on Friday, but have not had a reply. Am not even remotely considering trying their help-desk.

Tried various downloaders, they all stall on http file downloads at various sizes.

Switched back to Afrihost, now all HTML file downloads are working and my current torrents have jumped from between 4 and 40 to between 600 and 900 on a 10Mb line.

So, I need to find another place to spend my R200 odd bucks on an un-shaped/un-throttled account that uses an undersea cable other than the one that Afrihost uses and gives me about 40 gigs. Any suggestions?

The Telkom capped accounts are obviously shaped and / or throttled to death much the same way as the uncapped accounts are.
