Hi there

I would like to find out whether it is possible to access user cellphone numbers during an sms campaign.

Here is the scenario:
- SMS campaign run by external marketing company for people to make donations
- Users can log in to our website using their cell numbers (requires that we know 1. their number 2. an amount they have dontated via sms. possibly need to know if/when they have made additional donations)

Anyone with experience on this?

Cheers
Tracy

Are you absolutely certain that you need this information? Do you know what a responsibility it is to manage other peoples personal information? Will you take full responsibility should the data leak out or be misused?

I don't give out my cellphone number lightly, and when I do make donations I value my anonymity very highly. I don't want people to know how much I gave, or even that I personally gave. If people know that they immediately add you to all sorts of subscriptions and waste all the money you donated to them to send you information you didn't ask for and don't need.

It turns out that we will not go this route any more, for those and various other reasons.

If we had gone this route we would have hashed the numbers in the db & required a login password. So yes, I understand the risk. I was more interested in whether it was possible and whether anyone had a similar requirement to interface with the sms-campagin provider companies to get this information.
