Hi All,

Had a chat to the Afrihost Representative this morning and he was unable to answer all my questions :

1) There is a network port (RJ45) at the back of the modem, will this allow me to connect the modem to a hub/wired network or is this device Wifi only?
--> YES (confirmed with Web Africa).

2) What are my options if I don't get acceptable connection speeds? Do any companies offer returns? Can I sell the modem to someone else - but they wouldn't be able to use it on the RAIN network without a new sim card?

3) Is anyone able to get out to my offices in Isando to test the speed? How much will you charge? :D
--> YES - Sales lady at MWEB said she can get guys out to test the signal.

4) Can the modem use other sim cards? :
--> YES (confirmed on this forum).

Yes. According to Web Africa. This is a standard modem with 2 x rj45 ports at the back.

Why does Afrihost charge R700 more for the same modem that WebAfrica supply? And the MWEB modem is R200 less. I was told it is a different model, but the number on the unit's case is identical in all 3 cases

Hi Chris, the reason for the lower price from Mweb is that it is currently on special - probably selling at a loss to sway customers over.

And the WebAfrica price? This one is R700 less than Afrihost and the Mweb one is R900 less.

Why cannot I get a reply from Afrihost? Sent them an email and posted a query on their form, but no response. I am an Afrihost ADSL customer so thought a move to LTE-A but still being with them would be a good idea, but they don't seem interested
