Questions about the Sun

Suns or stars make all the elements, but there is only a net output of energy up to iron, after that the fusion reactions use energy, and the sun is a plasma, which means that the nuclei and electrons are seperated.

What people are sometimes confused with is the sun doesn't have the power to fuse heavier elements into iron. The conclusion the GP reaches is that there isn't any iron. Yes It's mostly made of hydrogen and fusion happens deep in its core but you can't convince me that it's not layered all the way in the centre. Yet I can guarantee there's iron down there since the sun was formed out of the remnants of other dying bigger stars.
 



It has to have iron. Since iron stays iron so any material obtained since the sun isn't hot enough to fuse heavier materials should have layered like the big stars.

Read your link, it specifically says high mass stars, ours is too puny.
 
Wrong tho. The convection currents are more than strong enough to keep it mixed up

This response I can accept but consider that the gravity is strong enough to keep hydrogen pressurised at its core and not have the convection rip it apart I still think you'll reach a layer of iron. and even some heavier materials from whatever it accreted during its life span.

We're arguing over the 1% of the sun but I still find it a fascinating argument.

You have to understand the severe implications of this equation E=mc^2. Can you see how much energy you get from just a tiny amount of matter? Fusion converts half its matter straight into energy.

There's a statement that only a kilogram of mass from the Hiroshima bomb underwent nuclear fission. Which means only about a bank note's weight worth got converted directly into energy. Enough energy to level a city. This is the beauty of nature and just how much energy is packed into everything you see.

The sun is not on fire.

It's a nuclear fusion reaction with hydrogen being turned into helium and other elements. It lasts so long because it's ****ing enormous.

Well... we know it was made on the 4th day. So likely a Thursday. Considering the timeline cited in the good book of it being only 6000 years old... I rate it has a good couple thousand years on its clock left.

I must say, as a scientist, topics like these and more especially the comments, are very intriguing to read.

Do you think the sun has a iron inner core?
No. There may be lots of iron spread out in certain layers of the sun but not the inner core. The inner core will be the most extreme part of the sun due to the immense heat and pressure , thus most likely to be composed of plasma and no solid matter.
 
Every notion we have as man, is just theory based on OUR made up words and calculations.
