I was just wondering (now that I am seriously going to buy a proper console) the following:-

What is the fundamental differences between the:

Xbox
PS1
PS2
PS3
Nintendo Game Cube
Dreamcast

And is the latter two available in SA?

Also, is the games console specific? Meaning you won’t be able to play an xbox game on a PS3 & so on?

Xbox nice console. Like the PS3, nice games on it. there's Xbox live which is like PSN but its not available in SA so SA people use US or UK accounts I think you have to pay, so I dont know what those guys do. You can download movies and series' off of it. If you have an HD TV games will look cool on it, its also a dvd player. Somebody else can give more details about this console since im not really a fan so dont know much aboot it
PS1 is very old! I'll be surprised if you can find a game let alone a console if you do they'll probably be R1 for a game and R10 for a console.
PS2 its still cool in some sense. Its lost some games due to the PS3 being out but its still cool. if you know you're not gonna play a console that much buy this, no use wasting money. This can also be used as a dvd players
PS3, brilliant console. You can store movies, music, pics on there. flash sticks can go in there. it is a dvd and blu ray player. so if you have an HD TV movies(only blu ray movies) and games will look amazing. The games on the PS3 are quite cool and fun. there's a PlayStation Network or PSN where you sign up for free and you can play online, buy PSN games which are like mini games, this will take cap and money. you can also download the latest demo's for free.
Nintendo Gamecube is old not too sure if they're still around. same for the dreamcast
You cant put a xbox disc into a PS3 or vise versa it just wont work. There are exclusive games which means the game belongs on 1 platform. like Fable is only for Xbox and God of War is only for PS3. Sometimes exclusive games do become available to everyone like when Tekken was first a PS3 exclusive then the latest one went to Xbox and PS3
