Good questions. Very statistically diverse (would be stupid to waste question space/time by asking "do you have satellite television?" and then asking "do you have a dvd player?").

Oh of course, because if you own a R300 DVD player you automatically must own DStv for R500 a month. Are you crazy?

Funny enough but I have seen a lot of shacks with DSTV dish on the roof and supplied with illigal electricity.
They have no running water, but then there is a very nice BMW parked outside?

They sound reasonable to me. If anything the person asking the questions was not the brightest. It seems they also doing some LSM type survey regarding people's lifestyles?

Yes, because the chances of you owning a DVD player given that you have satellite television are pretty damn good. Yes, I am crazy, wiki Bayes' Theorem and you'll see why.

I think the questions are a clear indication of just how poverty stricken the rest of South Africa really is, owning a Dvd player and music centre clearly puts you a class above those dwelling in shacks and such.

Not really. I used to have a DVD player. I assume that it is now in a shack somewhere.
