Qui Bono, for those who don't know, is the question with which you can find answers to most of the fundamental questions regarding three crucial divisions of life: religion, economy and politics. It means: Who benefits? And it can help answer questions many people regard as conspiracy theories, such as: Is the US or Chinese government involved in keeping Robert Mugabe in power as president of Zimbabwe, so that they can purchase large amounts of platinum smuggled out of the country at a low price? Just an example, no opinions needed on that one.

The topic we're dealing with here is global warming. I'm not saying it doesn't happen. However, I am putting up for discussion the possibility that the primary cause of global warming is in fact not what the government and corporations of the world would like us to believe. We are, allegedly to blame. Our consumerist way of life and our burning of fossil fuels. The human stain. Despite the fact that our entire solar system is heating up, global warming taking place on all the planets, we would still have ourselves believe that our activities are to blame for global warming on earth.

Scientific information proves this, everyone says so, etc. But when the Qui Bono question is asked, the answer is quite obvious: energy companies and the government. Slap a big price on a green product and an environment conscious buyer would be willing to buy it. Sometimes not. However, when a governmental body forces non eco-friendly products off the market, the buyer will have no choice but to pay the exorbitant fee. And of course the government benefits from increased taxes gained from the energy company's profits.

So the question is this: is it possible that the cause of global warming is not us but something else we can do very little about, for example an expanding sun or some other occurence and that the effect is not unique to the Earth?

There are multiple climate change threads already on this forum, including one that's still active and has been running for nearly a year. Maybe go post this there?
