I need a cheap car battery (Size 610) in the Alberton area, yes I know cheap battery's don't last long but I cant afford a proper one now. Where abouts can I go to find one at +- R500?

You can get recons at any battery provider for around R500.

What is a recon battery?

Probably an old trade in that they put through a few recharge cycles and then slap a new sticker on it.

OP I'd just buy the cheapest Midas battery they have, apparently its a rebranded battery from a good manufacturer. It's not worth going too cheap on a battery, save yourself R250 and then it explodes and battery acid goes everywhere in the engine bay damages wiring, paint, sensors or it dies in 3 months.

Reconstructed battery. They replace the cells, top it up with new battery acid and recharge. I'm still driving with one for the last 6 months. Plus you get a 12 month warranty.

How can you possible spend less than than that if you want to actually use it.

I did and I am still using it, granted it's been about 4 years now and prices have gone up but you can still get it for less than that, You negotiate for everything at the Chinese and Indian shops and you always come out of there a winner.
