Hi guys

This may be a silly question (forgive me if the answer is quite obvious).

I have a D-Link 2540U router, and @ the ADSL summary page it lists this:

Downstream Upstream
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 5248 880

Does this mean my exchange is 4mb compliant? Or is that simply the max rate the router can obtain?

Thanks.

That simply gives you an idea of what the maximum rate would be that your router can synchronize at. It does not tell you whether the exchange is capable of it either.
Also note that the attainable rate does not provide you with a rate that is necessarily stable. You might only be able to get a stable connection at 3Mbps.
Usually the exchanges are capable of 4Mbps, but not necessarily 10Mbps.

For instance, the D-Link DSL-2500U that we have at our office gives us attainable rates of 6656kbps/812kbps, where as we're only synchronizing at 2048kbps/512kbps due to it being too unstable at 4Mbps/512kbps.
