Ok, so our company want's to get uncapped AXXESS Internet, the 384kbs.

It says "1 concurrent connection." under cons. does that mean, only 1 line to multiple PC's, or does that mean 1 PC ? we are 5 PC's sharing from 1 router/modem.

sorry for the n00b question...

it means your account gets locked to your phone line. ie - some other ****er cant use it at his place and steal your cap.

You'd need to put your modem in router mode or use a linux firewall if the modem can only do bridged mode. I find the latter more secure. No password on the modem to leak out.

but 5 of use can surf one 1 line, right?

also, i see it costs R359 for a 4MB line, at Axxess - does this mean we can cancel everything at telkom, and pay axxess for the line rental ass well.

Keeper, you stll need to pay Telkom for the line rental, but the ADSL you can pay axxess

5 users can surf on the 1 line, yes

1 concurrent connection means that you can only login with your login and password once at the same time.

So, whatever is connecting you to the internet must do the connecting for you. You cannot (for example) then also go and connect using routesentry and RASPPPOE as well, and, if you give your login and password to somebody else, you will not be able to log in until they have logged off.

you dont cancel everything, you transfer the line to axxess, and you pay them the adsl line rentel (R359) and for your data usage.

With respect to the 1 concurrent connection, as obelix said, the account is locked to your line and you can only use your account to download on that phone line, you won't be able to set up modem into bridged mode and use an uncapped account on all the pc's because you would only be able to use one PPPoe connection on each pc.

If you are going with an uncapped line then just simply punch in the user name and details into the router and let it do its thing from there

ok now ur confusing me - i can't even remember what bridged mode is and what pppoe is - just wanna know if we can connect 5 pc's to one router and surf at the same time.

sorry for being such a n00b, I use 3G at home, but company wanna upgrade but also dunno much about bridges/etc...

you dont cancel everything

i mean, do we still need to pay telkom ?

Keep in mind that once you get past the thresh hold your line speed gets dropped during office hours.

You need to set up your router to connect, not the pcs. Then you can have as many pcs as you want connect to the router.

You will enter the username and password on the router and it connects with these details. Concurrent connections means that you won't be able to use the username and password at home, while the works router is still connected. Yes, 5 pc will be able to connect to the router and have internet access.

Transfer your ADSL line, directly to AxxessDSL.
Not only can you get your ADSL line cheaper through Axxess, but you now have the added benefit of getting only one invoice for both your ADSL line and your Axxess Bandwidth. Also, if there is something wrong with your Internet, then you only need to make one phone call.

i don't get it...?

Isn't uncapped account prices linked to the line speed as well? eg, 384k uncapped = R999 but 4mb uncapped = R1500. I know that there is a difference in price as well when you use the satellite link or fibre for international access...

Yeah, if you want adsl, you have to pay(and get) a telephone line, which is ~R124/month, then you have to pay for the adsl part which is ~R468(for 4mb) and then you have to pay for the BW as well.

You can only get the telephone line from telkom, so you will always pay them. The adsl part(and the BW) you can get from most ISPs and they are normally a bit cheaper.
