I was thinking a while back while I was filling some forms for insurance.

Who is more 'next of kin' to me between my biological daughter, parents and siblings?

Next of kin is just the person they notify when you die. You can list your dog if you want.

Those forms are not the be all and end all,the trustees of the insurer will have final say in any payouts done. You may not want your ex wife to get money,but if you have 2 kids with her and your new wife none your kids will likely still get money. Those forms are more a guideline for them
