Would it be possible for me to get a Telkom landline and a webafrica account for connection to the interwebs or is it not as easy as I thought?

Thanks

Yes. Though easier to just talk to WebAfrica.

Unless you really feel like dealing with both

Thanks for the reply... I'll deal with them separately, I've read alot of complaints about ISP's having issues with Telkom landline.

Hi Kido-san

You’ll save a lot of money doing everything through Telkom.

You need a Telkom landline which will cost you R199 a month, no matter who your ISP is. The ADSL connection to the “interwebs” runs inside the landline. Whether your ISP (internet service provider) is WebAfrica or Telkom or whoever, you pay the R199 landline rental.

Telkom is more affordable, less costly, cheaper. Telkom has better rates than WebAfrica. Keep in mind Telkom’s rates include the R199 landline rental. With WebAfrica you have to add the R199 landline rental.

With Telkom you get free ADSL installation (R792) free modem-router (R499 to R1899) and depending on the package you decide on, even a free TV media box (R1099). With WebAfrica you have to pay for all this.

Apart from that, Telkom has a much better FUP (fair use policy). Telkom’s ADSL is the best.

Thanks I've decided just to go with Telkom... They'll upgrade my line in the future as well.

Uncapped = throttled, slow, overextended.

Not in my experience. We stream everything in our house via a 20Mb/s uncapped VDSL account and rarely have a problem. So far we've used 360gb daytime vs 60gb off peak this month so if there was a problem someone would have mentioned it.

You also forgot to mention that's a contract.

WebAfrica is month to month, which I would rather have any day.

Does webafrica also give you a free router, installation, LIT box, mobile data etc on month to month?

With telkom you can go month to month if you don't take the router & lit box, monthly fees and other benefits are the same. Helps to compare apples to apples...

Of course, but I'd prefer to not be tied into a contract.

Just my 2c. That's all I wanted to say.
