Hey guys!
Another question :)

I have 2x2GB Corsair DDR2 1066 memory modules. In my BIOS POST it says that I have 4GB of DDR2 800 RAM. My motherboard ( Asus M2N-MX SE PLUS) is DDR2 1066 compatible though. Why does my pc select the RAM at 800mhz? Can I change this, if so, would anyone be so kind to assist me as to how?

Thanks in advance!
Regards

I think you have to enable the spd settings or "sli" ram as it's sometimes called. Probably needs to run at 2.1volts as well.

Okay thanks, but does that need to be done in the BIOS? I don't find my way around in my BIOS that good, it almost if it's a lot different from the other BIOS's I've worked on before. There's no app. that can do this perhaps?

THanks!

Hi there, this is a fairly common problem with Asus mobo's and 1066's. You need to change the voltage in the bios so that it picks up properly. They the Asus forums for where and what exaclty needs to be changed. I had a similar problem and the likes of Clossaue and little joe could help me.

What processor are you using? I have ddr2 800 ram, but for 1:1 ratio with my bus my ram runs at ddr2 667 when I don't overclock my processor. (e8500)

You need to see what the ram timings are for 1066 and set them accordingly in your bios. I have similar setup just with Apogee GT ram, the MB will default at 800, so i adjusted my ram multiplier (ratio) and set the timings to spec for 1066. No probs!

Oh ja ... had to up the voltages for my ram too (all the instructions were included on my packaging)

My timings are 5-5-5-15. Cant remember the multiplier setting.
