Quick Speaker Question

Will go this weekend to speed and sound to get a quote. Any idea if it would stuff up the warranty on the car? My guessing is it would :p.

I play mostly rock and sometimes metal music, and what worked for me was:

1 x cheap audiobank 4 channel amp
2 x Sony 4 inch full range and 2 x Sony 5.25 inch full range speakers
1 x powered subwoofer (I believe it was this guy)

That got me quite full sound with decent bass. Because the sub is not massive, it doesnt over power the music, but it has bass. Rounds out rock music nicely. The rest of the setup ensures that I can actually hear words etc.

I think all told, with an expensive head unit, it came to like R4k or so. So probably R2k for the amp, sub and 4 speakers.

Think Pooky meant the speed and sound car mag. Could be wrong...

As for your Warranty, no it wont do anything to your warranty as far as im aware.

@Unnamed: If you dont want to spend lots of money another option is small amp with 6x9's connected to it. You wouldn't believe how bass-ey and loud those things are when connected to an amp! Blew a SUB two years ago and had only splits and 6x9's for about a month, but my god it was impressive for those little things!

Well as i said i have a bit of money saved up. I was going to get a decent set of mags but i would rather decent sound. Plus i like my hubcaps :D.

I am not sure if i have hit a snag with the head unit. I have the steering wheel controls on my getz. DO aftermarket units support that?

Yes you need an adapter for it. Confirm that you can get an adapter before you buy anything though. Look around the autostyle website, it will be there.

Sound makes traffic just that little bit more tolerable :D well for me atleast...

I dont think you should worry about the head unit just yet. Get yourself some speakers first. Your unit can play MP3 hay?

doubt you would need to change that if you getting an amp ...all you would probably need is a hi-low converter if im not mistaken

for your budget you can get something very decent ...

alpine,jbl are also very good

Speaking from personal experience, JBL Splits are incredible! Best value for money if you ask me! They not very expensive (more than average) but WOW do they work!

where are you based also cos maybe someone in that are would help you much better

and my best advice is try the speed and sound and autostyle forums

those guys know alot about sound quality under budget

If you are in CPT, there is a place near Sportsmans Warehouse in Rondebosch called "Sounds Dynamic". I use them for everything for the last 5yrs and have NEVER been disapointed. They also stock a wide range, so lots of price ranges to look at, and very good about after sales...

I am based in Durban. I was going to give Autostyle in Umhlanga a call and see what they can recommend.

Busy sorting out what speakers to get and i figured i can scrape a bit of money together for a new head unit.
I currently have the double din stock unit. Is it possible to get one that has GPS at all? For around R3500 (Can maybe stretch the budget a bit)

No idea about the quality of this unit, but it looks pretty cool .
