I'm looking for an inverter, pure sine wave and 1KW should probably be more than sufficient for my needs. I'd also prefer 12v as I don't feel like needing two batteries.. What I really want though, is something that doesn't sound like a boeing going off, I get that most (probably all) have fans that usually run when it's on the battery but some I've heard just seem obnoxiously loud or the fan runs permanently.

Any recommendations out there?

I've also toyed with the idea of getting something "oversized" like perhaps 3kw in the hopes that because I'd probably never load it beyond about 30% it'd maybe remain silent most of the time but I don't actually know if any of them work like that?

Lastly I do have a 75kw solar panel that I picked up at an auction for R200 (seems to put out 20v) so if it could utilise that too it'd be neat but that's not very important..

I did actually look at that Mecer trolley, I was told though that it has a non stop running fan.

Thanks.. this looks pretty nice, all the right specs, only question is how noisy? :o Wish manufacturers would put typical DB info in tech sheets too.

A not stop running fan is not necessarily a problem, we have those in computers and other things, it is the speed as well as the noise it makes. Maybe take some time and visit physical shops if there are some around you, they sometimes have those on display some connected and running.

Having some experience on similar but bigger models, the fan noise doesn't bother me because it doesn't do the buzzing and high frequency noises you get on the cheap stuff.

I have the same one. Between 45 ~ 48dB right now.
Thanks! That's not bad. Can I ask if it only does that when it's running on the battery or is it all the time?

Yes fair point, buzzing whining sounds are worse. Not really sure about physical stores, this is only Qqeberha after all. Will have to look around..

Replace the fan with an AC fan - much quieter.

You could probably replace noisy fans with quiet PC fans.

Yea, this is an option, only don't wanna ruin a guarantee by modding it. I did this with my UPS actually, had the worlds loudest flipping fan in it and it comes on randomly every couple hours for whatever reason, so I cut a huge hole in the back and put in a much larger fan, can't hear it over my pc at all now.
