Quitting Smoking

Discovery medical aid covers this www.allencarr.co.za/ though, maybe because their success rates are so high, smoking is 90% psychological IMO and thats what they deal with.

Just to add: I smoked for about 8years, the last couple of years I smoked 20-40 ciggs a day, quit smoking overnight will allen carr's method, no gimmiks no pills nothing, been clean for about 2 years.

Ecigs use ethylene glycol to carry the nicotine and generate the smoke. Also the air you breathe in is at a higher temperature so still damaging, but against a normal cig the difference is unknown
Where the yell did you get that info from. I vape Vegetable Glycerine. Not Alcohol.

VG is the bulk of cough medicine and added to foods that need to be kept moist. Like dog biscuits. You can even drink it. It is a "Food Quality" liquid and has a sweet taste.

The artificial alternative is Propylene Glycol that works just as well and has been passed by the health board as "Food Quality". Many conserved foods contain this.

Agreed, but if don't have the will power to quit, or don't want to, e-cigs are a far healthier and cheaper alternative.

Hey. Saajid. Remember me? I introduced you to eciggies. Are they not great? It has become like a hobby to me tasting all the cool flavours. Not had a cigarette in 15 months and no inclination to have one. The easiest method EVER to stop. All my pals have gone to the LavaTube variable voltage eciggie and they love it.
I am not promoting the LT but try any 3'rd generation eciggie and you will have no "cold turkey". Not so Saajid?

FDA. They couldve changed the formula but the FDA banned its use in the US

could be back if they modified the formula for the vaping solution.

Quit in April, this year. Just went cold turkey, the morning after a rough night of partying.

Been to allan carr's in 2007. Did not smoke ever again. That was the best decision to date.

Stopped on Thursday afternoon. Since the wife stopped in Jan I haven't been smoking at home at all, even over weekends. I just smoked at work.

So on Thursday I decided to go cold turkey. Over the weekend it was fine, had some cravings yesterday, but managed it. Today had 1 craving so far.

I lol'ed, stopped what exactly? You're still addicted to nicotine, this is like a crack cocaine addict saying "no its dangerous to smoke crack concaine through a glass tube, I'll rather snort coke in powder form, much safer":D

In the long run you're still going to pay, I'm no doctor, but the number one thing smoking causes is heart diseases if I'm not mistaken (not cancer) and the heart disease is caused by the blocking of arteries, and nicotine is the culprit that clogs up in the arteries, not the tar found in a normal cig.

The problem isn't that it's not easy to stop, the fact is, it is easy to stop. The problem is that it's just as easy to start again.

Not quite.

Tar damages the lungs

Smoking constricts the blood vessels on the heart. You can see it on a live angiogram its almost an instant effect when the smoker inhales. Also the smoke decreases the amount of oxygen the blood can carry. Less blood flow and low oxygen to the heart is a bad thing.

Things that clog up the arteries are fats, high blood sugar can also cause a hardening of the arterial wall.

This is by no means a study that proves anything (was just one of the first of many hits I got)http://ezinearticles.com/?Does-Nicotine-Clog-Arteries-If-You-Are-A-Smoker?&id=5206288 but the concept of nicotine clogging arteries has been told to me by more than one doctor, to quote the article "
One of the not so known effects of nicotine is that it releases fat in the bloodstream which may then stick to the arterial walls "

Yeah nicotine is a stimulant, so its natural for the body to start metabolizing its energy reserves but your arteries dont get clogged directly from nicotine with fats

One of the not so known effects of nicotine is that it releases fat in the bloodstream which may then stick to the arterial walls if there is damage to the interior lining of the arterial walls

It narrows the arteries and since its narrower lipids traveling in the bloodstream can get attached because there is a greater change of lipids coming into contact with the endothelial lining of the blood vesseles.

thats why I said

Bottom line? Smoking is bad lol

Nicotine goes strait to the brain. Not to the arteries and thin them. Nicotine in itself is less harmful than caffeine. You guys Google it and go to the dodgy negative sites as you are looking for negative results only.
Go to trusted sites and you will see that Nicotine by itself can actually be more beneficial than caffeine.

LOL, please ... when you smoke its not only nicotine thats entering your body. Nicotine affects your nicotinic acetlycholine receptors in the brain yes. Though because its a stimulant your blood pressure increases. When you smoke you also drop the oxygen saturation of the blood which the body picks up and in an attempt to rectify it the causes an increase of blood pressure to make it circulate faster to the lungs.

You can see the actual narrowing on the arteries on the heart itself on a cath lab

Been Smoker since 2000. :(

I hate smoking, I stopped in 2009 before and it lasted for 2 years where the shiz hit the fan again. Car got stolen at a friend’s house and in order to calm down had a cig. (Bad move)

So Friday after a family wedding I decided to continue to quit smoking all together.

Hadn't had a cigarette since Saturday morning AKA 22 Sep 2012. Feeling the cravings but I'm stronger. hahaha

Good Luck . . .

Hahaha reread what you just said, nicotine gathered from tabaco waste gets used in commercial insecticides, which are HIGHLY TOXIC
