OK what can i get for my current machine ... just the box

2x7800GTX in SLI - Gigabyte factory overclocked to 480Mhz and 1250 mem speed ... ok ok it is actually a bios upgrade from Gigabyte themselves
MSI K8N Neo4 plat SLI M/Board
80 GIG HDD SATA
Samsung DVD combo
Asus DVD Writer Combo
2 Gig Value RAM Kingston
AMD 4800+ Dual Core
Antec P180 Case
Antec TP2 550W PSU

Please someone quote me on this machine:

Intel Core Duo 6800
2 Gig Performance RAM ... what are the good makes around? kingston gaming series?
120 Gig HDD (yes 80 is still good for me so 120 will also be fine for me)
8800GTX 768Meg
A nice chasis like Antec or Thermaltake ... one with very good air circulation...how is the antec nine hundred chasis?
Antec Power supply ....
Samsung DVD Writers x 2 ... the other brands i have just had problems with
And a Good m-board ... asus or advise me... does not need to have like 50 usb ports and wireless networks and 10 million pci slots.... one that is overclockable and just good ...

i will be taking my x-fi from my current pc and just transfer it to the new pc ... dont worry bout OS and i can get that very cheap from microsoft themselves ...

So i dare someone to quote me :D

So you are selling your old rig and want a quote for both the old one and a new one?

yes im selling the old rig ... and wondering what should be a good asking price ...

and yes i want a quote on what that new rig would cost me ...

i'll give you five bucks for the old one

I see.

Well you can check out prophecy.co.za for the new prices on that rig you want. They have most things.

As for the old one, 2nd hand PC's do not go for much nowadays. How old are the various parts, how fast is the RAM and what make is the HDD? Also, has it all been over-clocked a lot?

Does this PC meet your requirements?

Quoted PC looks good but I'd lose the Kingston in favor of Team as its cheaper but will do same speeds

R25k?
LOLZ

Maybe ditch the X6800 & go for e6600 to shave off a few grand? or wait for the new C2D which are due soon.. & agree about the ram. If you really plan on overclocking take a look at the Asus Commando, read plenty good reviews about it.

Lol, at R22k I wonder why such a fuss is kicked up over R6k for the PS3 :D

supersunbird .. yeah pretty much what i was looking at ... i figured i could get away with R20k, plus maybe 7k for my current box ...

1. could you possible tell me in that quote what each component costs ... ?
2. can you get the antec nine hundred chasis?
3. Whats the difference between the current True power II antec 550W i got and this trio one???
4. and like shock G has mentioned the TEAM memory (seen he always has the latest and greatest, so i think he would know better than me) :)
5. Mboard ... the commando series

BTW my hdd is seagate or maxtor cant remeber , its the one rectron stocks ... memory is DDR400 ... pc has been overclocked using nvidia ntune, so overclocked but ensuring stability... oh the cpu has the zalman cu heatsink and fan on it ...

BTW my hdd is seagate or maxtor cant remeber , its the one rectron stocks ...

have you considered a WD Raptor for your new PC? There is a noticeable speed difference with them esp since your going for such high end hardware.
Between seagate & maxtor, go for the seagate, its got 5yr warranty

1. I could, but I find it better to work within a budget.
2. Yes, I just couldn't see it on my pricelist that time. I have that on now.
3. The difference is that the Trio has three 12V rails.
4. None of my suppliers seem to have TEAM memory.
5. I have that on now too.

You can easily fit everything in your R20 000 range if you get a cheaper processor, you going to be overclocking right? Just take a cheaper CPU and overlock the hell out of that, more satisfaction that way since the % improvement you get out is bigger. Hugs his 3200+ @ 2.6GHz :D
