Quote me ... please i dare ye ...

Yeah, Prophecy has Team Ellite too which is super cheap, but super fast...
As in Team Ellite PC6400 DDR800 which can do 4-4-4-12 DDR800 or 5-5-5-15 1066MHz all for R1,6K for 2GB.

just checked cant use the commando series motherboard with an 8800GTX SLI ... chipet only supports crossfire ... busy researching the net on the components and seeing what is the best ... maybe better is i keep my antec P180 chasis and my TP2 Antec 550W PSU ... and sell the rest ....

thanks for the quotes ... need to do my homework ... anyone selling the 8800GTX for under R6000? ... rectron has the gigabyte one for R6260 ...

If you want SLi check out the EVGA 680i SLi, brillaint board tried to get one myself but there are no local suppliers.

Sorry, forgot to add.
Still best price I have seen though.

For the rig you want, I would not rely on a 550Watt PSU but at least 600Watt with 33A +12V rail or greater.

I would not worry about the Raptor as the 750GB Seagate costs about the same but you get far more storage for a minimal hit in performance. Heck I'd settle for the Hitachi 500GB even over raptor

P180 is much better case than Antec Solo or 900.
If you ever plan on going SLI you could try the Asus P5N32-E SLI as it works really great (500MHz+ FSB)

Last bit and probably most valuable piece of advice... Don't spend that kind of money on a PC, ever. You could get same performance if not better for less and I'm sure Supersunbird can still provide you with most of the parts.

wouldnt raiding two big drives result in fast overall performance? striping or something?

Yeah, what he said.

thing is i always do this anticipating being able to run this new game coming out at max settings ... i am an eye candy person .... did it when unreal 2 was coming out ... and boy was that game cr@p ... the game now is of course cyrsis ... just got this itch ... btw supersunbirds prices are really good ... need to do some proper thinking bout this before i just spend ...

E6600 CPU
P5N32 -E SLI
NVidia 8800GTX (Any will do but try and avoid paying 7K for it, heck pay as least as you can. Don't get sold on brand as that's meaningless when all cards are the same)

500GB WD or Hitachi drive. Not a huge fan of the Seagate 7200.10 as it runs really hot (like 50'C+ in open case)

Team Ellite DDR800 2x1GB or go for the Team Dark DDR800 for a little more. (I
wouldn't though)

Keep your P180 case

PSU: Aopen 700Watt or the CoolerMaster 850Watt which is under R1,500.

With the given RAM, CPU and Mobo, you can do 385x9 for just under 3.5GHz with the ram running at 900MHz+ @ 4-4-4-12. That'll give you great performance but at minimal risk.

All this should cost you far less than you wanted to spend.
E6600 should be R2.8K
P5N32-E SLI ~ R2.5K
8800GTX ~ R5.8K
Team Ram ~ R1.7K
PSU ~R1K
That's about R13.8K without the drive. Add a drive (500GB) for R1.8K and you have R15.6K...
These are from the top of my head to don't take them as exact numbers, ask the dealers here on the forum
