Sad to say, my 10year old AOpen power supply has just shunted its last electron.

It has been in service for, crumbs, must be close on 10 years, and seen me through old Northwood + Prescott P4 upgrades, dual and quad core 775s.

RIP old faithful.

Haha! I had exactly the same PSU, it burnt out ages ago!

Mine has been in use, from around 8am to around 10pm, Monday to Friday, since it was purchased in 2004 from Rectron.

The fan was still quiet.

/sigh

Agree, these were good workhorses and rarely gave issues. Mine lasted about the same with 24/7 use and I still have one as a spare, just in case...

I still have an AOpen mouse from 2004 that I keep as a backup.

I feel your pain. Mine lasted 7 years then kicked the bucket. Was sad to see it go.

You were actually endangering your system by keeping it in there. It could have blown in a bad way and taken out the other components. You wouldn't keep a rabid senile old mutt to guard the family jewels would you?

:D

It was no rabid senile old dog... this was old faithful right up until the end.

Not a bang, just a tired whimper... and ... then ... gone.

Methinks you're protesting a bit too much. I'm sure I heard a muffled gunshot.
