Can you list exactly what you need? Is this list adequate?

- Screen
- Case
- Mobo/CPU
- HDD
- Graphics card
- SSD

Hi Vanteacher,

Everyone seems eager to help but I think some more info is needed.

a)What is the the main use of your PC going to be? Gaming? Rendering? Internet and Emails?

b) How long are you planning on keeping the setup? will you upgrade in a year or two or do you want the components you purchase to see you through 5 years?

c) Will you OC your cpu and/or GPU?

My take on Nvidia GTX:

All their mid to top cards are great but there are cheaper AMD cards to give you the same and even better performance in gaming. You may want to look into Physx and Cuda; do you really need them for what you want to do. You can do without them in games, imo.

What rating is the PSU, bronze, gold, etc?

Like the others said, we need a bit more detail.

Basics with the budget:
CPU: i5
Mobo: H87 or Z87 (in July or August H97 or Z97)
GPU: GTX770 (don't know why you want Nvidia, with a R10k budget one would think you want the most performance for your money, which will then lead to AMD)
SSD: 256GB (or 128GB if the rest gets too expensive)

Case? ROMs? Screen? Coolers? Fans? HDDs?

I have RAM, 550W powersupply, Screens, and peripherals as well as the case.

I want a gaming rig that will let me play on max settings for at least a year or two.

Whats coming out in june?

I've had a bad run on non-gtx gfx cards so im not going there.
AMD cpu's seem cheaper for the same bang.... so i dunno

Any advice appreciated.

I have seen the AMD cpus use like double the power so Im afraid i wont have enough juice

Currently im looking at this on takealot:

AMD FX 8350 Piledriver Series CPU - Socket AM3+

Asus AMD 990X EVO Motherboard - Socket AM3+

Gigabyte nVidia GeForce GTX760 OC - 4GB GDDR5

Go look at Rebeltech and Wootware and get intel.

1) Don't worry too much about your PSU. 550w is enough for a single GPU setup.
2) So you literally need mobo/cpu/gpu for 10k? Okay let's see:\

R9 280X, R3700. Yes it's AMD - but it's so much cheaper than the same performance in Nvidia that I have to recommend it.
Z87M Extreme4 R1700.
4670k R3000
That leaves you with R1600 for 120gb SSD (or you can find 256gb models for r1500 if you don't mind OEM.)

I take it your doing something along the lines of rendering / using nvidia cuda? In that case, go for it. Those amd cpu's are great for the price.
