R2k GFX card

5770 will run DX 11 games really poorly.
Get a HD4890 if you can afford it, and upgrade to a HD5850 when you can afford it :)

Why does everyone think dx11 is going to rape graphics cards. Seriously now. Wtf?

Dx11. Games are already here. Every heard of a little game called dirt2?

Dirt is not an extremely tough game for video cards though. Add in something like crysis dx 11 type effort and it will suffer badly.

Most of the first dx 10 cards could barely run crysis on low/medium with no AA. Remember the 8600gt did you see how that played dx 10 games LOL.

if ur based in cape town, u can grab it from take2.
they only closing on 24th where u can do collection from there offices :)
otherwise if u need a hand, send a PM my way :D

Thanks for the offer, but Take2 seem to be completely out of stock on all their 4800 series cards :(

Yes, but ati haven't released their low end range yet. That would be the 5550. You could say the 5750 and 5770 are the 9600GT and 9800GT of the 5 series.

I really need a new GFX card at this point.

Currently my system specs are:

Asus P7P55D
Intel Core i5 750
4 GB DDR3-1333 RAM

And...

Asus EN9400GT 1GB...

Talk about a bottle neck :( I can't even play WoW on highest settings.

Thats not even a bottleneck, then cap is on!

If you wait for something better or better priced to come along, you will never buy a card. With silicon there is alwasy something new on the horison.

4890 gets my vote (and I am a green fanboy). DX11 is far to new. Hell, the even move to DX10 is still trying to happen...

Crysis could not be played on some of the top end cards when it was released. According to the benchies, the 4890 outperforms the 5770

The thread is about the R2k graphics card, and the 5770 performs very well, as for pricing, it will aways be an issue in RSA

you gonna go purchase it from matrix then? or they don't have stock either? :-/

They're getting their last shipment today - gonna call them this afternoon and hope they get something worth purchasing.

Would it be worth going for an nVidia card if that is all they have? What nVidia cards equate to the same performance as the HD4870 or HD4890?

Didn't we advise you at one point that you would regret bottlenecking yourself with such a weak gfx card?

Indeed, and I had the full intention of buying a new gfx card as soon as I was able to. This was not an "oh shi-" moment of realising the gfx card sucked in relation to my new hardware, but rather a planned upgrade - I just didn't factor in only being able to purchase at Christmas when everything is closed :(
