Not at all. Clifton (R100 000 psm), Bantry Bay, Fresnay, Green Point and even down to Sea Point (R30 000 psm) are all above R30 000 per square meter. Constantia is actually a very affordable in comparison. You can get quite a big villa in Constantia for the price of a small apartment in Sea Point. Camps Bay sits somewhere above Constantia but well below Clifton, Bantry Bay and Fresnay

Other houses in the street are closer to 10 mil.

Camps Bay is one of the cheaper of the up market areas. Bantry bay and Llandudno are much higher. Parts of Camps bay are actually affordable.

If you look at the overhead satellite shot, the house is completed from what I can see, and its by far and away the largest on the road, so much so that it stands out.
 
the more i think of it, the more a am convinced the sellers and agents are on crack
this house is crammed onto a small piece of land (retative to the size of the property), and street facing onto one of the busiest roads and least desirable part of the suburb.

whereas this, in the glen (the most desirable part of the area) offers privacy and space - for around R300m

again - look at what's being presented by the artist's impression.
i go through the area almost daily, using either geneva or camps bay drive to get home - i see the place often enough.

the house resembles more of a multi-unit development squeezed in between neighboring properties as opposed to the the lofty "casablanca" air the estate agents are trying to create.
it's an oversized monstrosity facing onto a main road - there is fekkall "casablanca" about it - delusional and bored estate agents tying to be creative
 
Suppose he does get it. It will have an awesome effect on the rest of the houses in the area.

Given that its at least a double story property, and probably triple story in some places, I can quite easily see all the stuff fitting into the house itself.. but yes, its squeezed into the plot.
 
A property is not 'worth' anything without the context of location.

My house in western Sydney (30km from city) will sell for A$1M at moment, same house 5km from city would be A$2M, or 50km from city would be A$600K...or if transplanted to 'similar suburb' in Cape Town would be only A$150K

This is the recent sale of James Packer's Vaucluse mansion (in one of top 10 most expensive areas in world), for A$60M...but you need a willing buyer such as Chau Chak Wing who threw a lazy A$20M towards a university building recently.

he is a Chinese- Australian, who appears to have made his fortune early on with direct links to communist party...bit of a colourful history, now apparently a 'philanthropist'...which apparently makes him ok to spend his money hear
 
I know the family that own this house. Apparently, the only reason they listed it, is to show off so that everyone would ooh and ahh.....that's what they're like.

I definitely am not going ooh and ahh.. its more like "WTF were they thinking designing the house like that, its ugly.
