Hi a friend of mine want a laptop for herself to watch movies on and do some work etc etc. All that she has really stipulated is that it must have at least a 14.1" screen and be able to view movies with it...? She said that if she reeaaalllyy had to she could stretch her budget to a MAX of R5k but not a cent more.

So anyone know of any good deals floating around currently...?

I dont think 4k will buy you a notebook, a netbook yes. 5k will get you a bottom of the line Celeron notebook.

PC Zone has a hp 550 & acer eme520 for R4999. Lenovo N500 for R4700

Then again, before you buy, just look what Acer has up its sleeve for later this year:

The humdinger for me currently is the news that Acer will have Google Android on their Netbooks by the third quarter of this year.
