R8000 Desktop Build - Suggestions...

My Friend has asked me to build him a PC, he has the screen, mouse etc. Just basically needs the box with Hdd etc etc etc...
This is what i made on prophecy so far;

Any suggestions?
He is into music production and gaming etc . . So maybe a decent sound card could be included?
Oh and his budget is R8000, less the better.
 
Or get cheaper memory and run 2x 2gb.
I won't get a Thermaltake PSU again, I have had 2 die :(

Also, if he is not into overclocking i'd look at a faster CPU, something like a E8400 or better. My E5200 is holding the HD4850 back quite a lot and the E7200 isn't that much better.
 
The NSK4000 takes a 4870, but the GTX260/280 don't fit.

I would swap the E7300 CPU for a E5200. Saves you R400 for 2-5% less performance. You will get better performance using the extra R400 to buy a second 2GB ram chip

Also for a similar price, you can get this board.

Many more toys, but no onboard graphics (which I suspect he won't need) If he does music production, the Onboard ALC sound card has Optical and Coax digital connectors. Makes a huge difference in playback clarity when connecting it to Hi-Fi equipment.

My friend runs this CPU and board. His CPU is overclock at stock voltage and cooler to 3.5Ghz, performs about the same as a E8400 stock now.

We found our best results dropping the max multiplier from 12.5 to 10.5 and then setting the FSB to 333 (or 1333) and setting the ram to 333 (667). That way all the stuff is in sync and you get the maximum out of the CPU.

If you have feeling brave, you can try a 11 multiplier, or if your CPU sample isn't that good, you might need to drop it to 10, which still gives you 3.3Ghz.
 
Is it safe? new to the overclocking thing :o
 
Very safe brawler. Near impossible to damage anything these days unless your crazy and set your cpu to 2.0v.
 
Well i will be putting it together for him so yes i will overclock for him. He wont know how to overclock.
