There’s been another drug bust at OR Tambo International Airport with authorities seizing tik valued at more than R8 million.
A woman travelling from Dubai was arrested after the drugs were found in her luggage.
Authorities said the weight of her suitcase was unusually high despite scans showing only a few items of clothing inside.
Over 26kg of crystal meth was found concealed under the lining of her bag.
Last week, officials discovered R1 million worth of ephedrine concealed inside desk pen holders at the airport.
In a separate incident, about R1 million worth of the narcotics was discovered in a parcel sent from India.
Meanwhile, the South African Revenue Service (Sars) says it’s working to intensify its fight against drug smuggling at all the country's ports of entry amid growing concerns of drug use among young people.
Sars spokesperson Luther Lebelo said, “We are quite excited about these discoveries because they keep confirming Sars’ commitment to ensure that our borders are kept clean."
