Anybody got Toca Race Driver2 to work on Windows7?
I installed it, but when clicking the game icon, it comes with message that game installed correctly, reboot to complete the installation", same as it did in XP.
I can reboot & reboot & reboot, no luck same message. Even tried run as administrator.
Any suggestions?
I contacted Codemasters about the problem, somebody replied that the game does not work on Win7, only up to XP.
So is Win7 soooo different that its not backwards compatible (even with 'run as win xp sp3")?
Wonder how many games I'm not gonna be able to run in Win7.
I guess one solution is to dual boot with XP, but that is very twisted logic, and just wasted hdd space for XP installation, but what else is one to do?

Hi

I don't have a solution but I share the pain and can tell you what I've tried:

I have exactly the same problem, game keeps asking me to reboot computer to finish the installation. I've also tried reloading the game by clicking on the install program straight from the CD as administrator with XP compatablilty mode but every time it's the same problem.

My direct X 9 installation failed as well on the install disc so I downloaded Direct X manually and then tried to reinstall the game but no luck.

I do wonder if Microsoft purposely make old games obsolete through some behind the scenes agreement with third party software companies. After all, we have no choice, much as I liked XP it was obvious that we'd be forced to upgrade anyway, as support for XP will cease. That's good news for games companies as well but it's really not fair on the consumer. I've had loads of fun playing RD2 and I'm not giving up that easily but I won't be tempted into forking out money for RD3.

Anyway, back to this problem - can't see a solution but in fairness I'm not heavily into computers. Maybe an expert might be able to come forward and give some advice!

Good luck, I'll let you know if I get any further!
Cheers
Phil.
