Modern society always tends to blame the abusers, however I would argue that the blame should at least be allocated 50 / 50 - since if you don't stand up for yourself, there will always be someone who abuses you.

In this case of apartheid, it was the good people, both on the side of the abusers and the abused stood up and said it was unacceptable, who were able to bring about change.

This doesn't however, give license for excuses that apartheid caused the behavior, because what you are doing, either intentionally or not, is justifying the behavior, and making it acceptable. In other words, you are further encouraging the behavior - an outcome, I'm sure you'll agree is not desirable.

What is passed is passed, and we can't change it. However, we have a duty stand up for justness and fairness in the present. Using the past as an excuse diminishes our ability to do this.

To say we were abused and therefore the behavior is justified, reflects doubly as badly on ourselves: (1) That we allowed ourselves to be abused in the first instance and (2) that we are not big enough people to rise above the abuse to behave in a responsible, just and fair manner.

true, but what about those who are brought up or molded to hate a certain race - if they don't have a sense of reflection onto them selves are they still at a wrong ?
 
He will probably be suspended with full pay for a year, just like the rest of them.
 
I've seen this type of behaviour personally from the police. I don't think this a rare incident at all.

I'm willing to bet that he and his commanding officer had quite a laugh about this.
I think he'll get a slap on the wrist, a pat on the back and a promotion next year.

Well surely that would be the purpose behind disciplinary action, to inform them that they are wrong.
 
Racism has never been this bad, as we get further from apartheid, it gets worse. I don't think it has as much to do with apartheid, as much as it has to do with how we constantly regurgitate it over and over again.. The number of times a year I hear "apartheid" should be decreasing, its not, its increasing. That is the problem. Everyone convinces themselves they should be owed something and convince themselves that all their self made problems should be blamed on whites too. Not so. Whites should actually be able to sue the government for promoting racism through propoganda. Thats why this is happening.
They have shown that racism from their side is absolutely tolerated and excused as understandable. Thats BS..
Governments aren't allowed to do that. Its against our basic human rights actually.

The guavamint doesn't realize that the only way to stop discrimination on the basis of race, is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.

sigh yet when there's a serious skills shortage, there's no engineers to provide them with electricty, water, etc who they going to turn to?

If all "white dogs" should fek off out of this country what would happen?

Do they have the capacity to continue living as they are this very moment?

Why is the government spending millions bringing in skilled people from overseas?

Personally i think these people just lack the mentality to think further than themselves...

Sort of along the same lines as the disciplinary action taken against the Metro plods who shot at the SAPS guys a few months ago.
