I'm looking for an enclosure for a few pieces of kit at home. Nothing fancy, nothing large, 16-20u or so, but needs to go with the decor (stylish industrial look, black, silver and red (and in that order, no eighties beige which is only good for drying biltong in the garage)) and needs to house, protect and cool at least two to three 1U devices, a 4u box, some wifi apparatus, 2 fiber rings and a family of Raspberry and Banana PIs. And maybe one or two units free for whatever I feel like tinkering with in the next 2 years... :D

I have an ideal space, depth is a problem (around 5-700mm), height should be 1-1.2m, standard width.

Budget is R899-00 :crylaugh:. Anyone with a similar problem? Anyone solved it? Some recommendations?

Nothing you get for that budget is going to look stylish, unless the server room look is stylish for you :D

Convert an existing cupboard into a rack. Put some extractor fans into the ceiling. Did this once before a client.

That's a nice unit, DrJohnZoidberg, I like it.
9U isn't bad, the price is reasonable and I guess that I could squeeze some kit into it. If you don't mind me asking, what lives inside, or does it only do duty as a PC stand?
It also started me thinking: perhaps, if I got two 12U units, they could double as a convenient temporary tactical firearm / ammo storage... I'd rather not expand too much about this on a public forum, but like-minded individuals would probably understand.

I love South African peeps, always creative. A good option to consider, particularly is there loads of cupboard space.
