I am currently upset. First of is that my ADSL line has been faulty for the past week and a bit. Fault was reported on the 17th of June, it is according to Telkom fixed.

So I tested and found the same fault, ATM CRC errors, sigh, phone Telkom, get the usual BS, unplug your router, blah, blah, blah. Ask the agent to connect me to a manager, about THIRTY minutes later and still no manager, so I blow my top and accidently swear at the agent who promptly slams the phone down. Now I am MAD !!!!

So I calm myself down and proceed to the Telkom website.

Did you know that you cannot report an ADSL fault after reporting an ADSL fault on Telkom's website ?
Did you know that not only can you not attach a screenshot to a fault reported online but you only have 200 characters in order to describe the fault. You also can NOT add any comments to the reported fault.

So in order to resolve these issues, I have reported all of the above to billing disputes as I am not paying for a service that I feel I am not getting.

Oh and on the subject of billing, according to the Telkom site, I receive my invoice electronically and on paper, requesting a list of invoices yielded NO results.

Logged billing disputes cannot be seen after being logged, well logged that as another billing dispute as it is the only place that I can log it.

I think I will pop into my local Telkom shop tommorow and ask for an escalation number for all the faults / disputes that I have logged.

AWESOME Telkom for the FAIL.

Telkom Ticket Numbers related to this ONE line issue, 1401CRK170210, 8CRK280410, 46CRK280410 and 910CRK170610. PS these are only the fault numbers from THIS year, so far.

So like a total ID10T I phone Telkom again, call is answered by a very well spoken and nice Indian woman, she promptly explains to me that technicians have checked the exchange / dslam etc and found that there is a problem, 4mb cannot be supported on my line.....

No wanting to replay the scene that happened last night, I put the phone down, and start to compose a billing dispute, something along the lines of :-

"In February I applied for a line upgrade to 4mb from 512k. Since then I have reported FOUR faults on the line 1401CRK170210, 8CRK280410, 46CRK280410 and the latest 1401CRK170210. All these issues are related to CRC errors, intermittent service and dropped packets / connection. After a lovely discussion with a lady in technical support, she informed me that the line CANNOT be repaired, technicians have reported that the line is too unstable to operate at 4mb. I would like either this issue fixed, or a refund on my bill from the the date of the line upgrade up to now as well as the line upgrade fee.

Thanking for you time,
I look forward to your response.

XXX"

I cannot wait for the response to this .....

well if you look at there terms and conditions it says up to 4mb I had the same issue they dropped my line to 2mb and it is stable there. so just give that a shot.

line upgrade up to now as well as the line upgrade fee.[/quote
Telkom does not charge for upgrades, only downgrades - I dont know where you are getting this from ?

Tell that to my Feb Telkom account, which mind you I cannot even go back to and reference online.
I was charged the same price as a DSL installation for the upgrade from 512k to 4mb. M_fluffers.

Can you divide your adsl rental by 30/31 (no. of days in a month) then pay for the days that your line was working?

i remember them saying something in the terms where they're quite specific on the minimum speed they Garuntee. something like 640kbps. just saying, if your line couldn't handle the 4 meg sync, CRC errors would happen. and the thing about paying for 4 meg even if you get less than half of that, well thats a story for an other day...

If my line cannot handle 4mb, why give me the option to upgrade to 4mb ?
Why has it been working since the 1st of June up to the 17th of June without giving and real issues ?
Why did the issue only start on the 17th of June ?

My fault now has been closed, excellent will check the line tonight, if I have the same issues, open another ticket.

Why does Telkom close faults without their client's permission ?
Why cannot Telkom's client comment on the repairs done to their line on the online support ticket ?

LOL @ Telkom

"Thank you for making use of our online dispute services. Your request has been logged with our call centre and an agent will contact you shortly.

Should you have any queries regarding the dispute you have just logged, please contact the call centre on 10210 if you are a residential customer or 10217 (option 3) if you are a business customer.

It is important to note that it can take up to 48 hours for your request to be reflected on our systems. " - https://secureapp.telkom.co.za/eportal/eBilling/createdisputes

This website (www.Telkom.co.za) is a major fail. All the disputes that I have logged, are NOT displaying. I must have logged about 10 to 15 disputes over the past couple of days informing Telkom that their website is not functioning as I would see it working.

Today I added another dispute, I cannot log faults online, PERIOD !!

So I phone 10210. I was politely informed that I cannot see my disputes online, YET THE WEBSITE SAYS THAT I CAN !!!!

EPIC FAIL !!!!

Well the fault still persists, this time I have an escalation number, lets see what that does and just to add more fuel to the fire, I reported a physical cable fault too. An exposed wire on my telephone pole, now THAT could be the problem right there.

So question now is why did Telkom NOT dispatch techies to my premise to check for a fault there .... MMMMMM

I think I will compose a lovely little email with all my faults and issues, and send them to the escalations department, see what happens :)

This is why i took a sidecutter and cut my line between the telkom pole and my house cause telkom does there own thing all day long.
i had my line for 6 months it worked for 2 months of that time and i waited a year for my line follow my example and tell them to come pick up there s***t on the pavement cause u had enough
