Hope sumbody can help

about a Month ago i setup a 12disc RAID-5 using software RAID. Problem i have, every 2 weeks +- a few days, my RAID starts regenerating by itself, without showing that there is/was a disc faulty.
This regenerating takes +-10 hours, slowing transfer speeds on the RAID, as to be expected.

What i am trying to find out, is how to figure out what is causing this? Is there an appplication that can scan the seperated discs on the RAID, and then tell you which one is the culprit?

My other thought is power surges, but as we didnt have any power failures the last 3 weeks, it is doubtful.

Any ideas are welcome...

Since u only loose one drive for RAID-5 it makes sense to have as much drives as possible... ie 1/3 = 33% gone. 1/12 = 8% gone.. much better thx.

Will see if i can find system logs, but cant remember seeing anything relevant there, except for regenerating starting and finishing.
OS i am using is Windows XP professional
