ok here it goes:my friend has a pc with 2x hdd's (IDE) and 1 dvd writer (IDE).
The mobo only has 1 IDE connector.so he bought himself an IDE controller for
PCI port so he can connect the extra drive via that and have all 3 drives working.problem is that when you install drivers for the IDE controller it installs
RAID drivers meaning when the pc restarts and windows booting screen appears the pc freezes up.if you try and install SCSI drivers it does not want to.any help will be appreciated cause now he can only connect 2 drives.

Come on give the guy a break.He's got 1 x 30gig and 1 x 20gig hdd.And like I said he's in a financial hotspot.As far as i know he got the controller for R30.

Keep the original system drive on the original port on the motherboard. Most likely these two IDE ports uses different chipsets with different drivers. But window was using a certain driver and now it cannot use that driver.

I hope I understood the problem correctly. If this is the case, then there is a workaround if you want to move the HDDs, but you first need to boot windows.

Has he got the DVD drive on the main controller or on the new IDE controller?
Put the 2 HDs on the onboard IDE and make sure the main drive is master and other is a slave.

And it won't load SCSI drivers... there's no SCSI devices.

Excellent idea.

Ya, keep the two HDD's on the onboard, and put the DVD on the add-on board.
