Hi All, Just wanted to share my experience with Rain and cancelation procedure may be warn few people.

I have been with rain for 1,5yr despite their network speeds, throttle on services I didn’t really had a lot of problems ( really helped me out during the lockdown and house moving)
I recently got fiber in my area and was ready to switch, I tried to plan without getting double payments as well as went on their website and looked up how to cancel just to be safe, they specifically say “cancelation will take on the last day of the month and I will have to pay for the data I used”
I canceled on the 1st of august ( so they get their payment for July) then on that day I switched off router and the sim so it doesn’t connect, emailed the support team and asked for confirmation from their side,
I get a reply saying that I will be billed full price for august as well ( R479) even if I don’t use it, because what ever is on the website is only applied to 5G, but no where near it specified to what connection (4g or 5G) it’s referring to.
Please be aware!

In short: Website is wrong about their cancelation policy they will still charge you for the month even if you canceling on 1st and won’t use their network.

Huh? As per your post it says it will cancel on the last day of the month, as is the case for pretty much every billing cycle based system.

Then you cancel on the FIRST of the month and you are confused about why you get billed for the whole month?

The answer is right there in your own post. Nothing scammed about it.

Hi, I do understand the cancellation of the end of the month I have no problem with it, my concern is that the website says that I would only have to pay for the data I use ( which I hope that would be the case) but why would I have to get billed for the whole month even if I don’t use it ?

Even if you had not cancelled like you did, you'd still get billed for the service irregardless of whether you used it or not. You have the service to you or not used at your pleasure. Just like any subscription service, as long as you're subscribed, you will be billed whether you use the service or not.

I thin

Only one that you don’t get billed for if you turn it off i the R50 per a gig prepaid model. The other ones they straight up charge you R450 or R250 etc as the month starts

Yep dude the debit order goes of on the 1st. Which is a new month. They don't just bill pro-rata and don't know when you intend to cancel. You probably should have cancelled on the last day of the month.

Anyway, I'm sure @rain_mobile will sort it out for you.

I am sorry, but cancellation takes place at the end of the month, so in your case the end of August? What are you complaining about again? How were they supposed to know you wanted to cancel at the end of July?

May be I haven’t explained correctly my apologies, I was more referring to the last sentence( in that pic ) where if I cancel on that month 1-31st, I would only have pay for the data that I used for that month, this is why I started from august from clean slate, but that wasn’t the case,

The issue has been solved, so it’s all good now,

If i was in your shoes I’d continue using rain … just saying …
