Are there people on this forum that can help with general issues after installing the 5G rain modem?

Things like:

1. After connecting to the WiFi, two phones in the house are getting >250mbps but another phone gets 50mbps.
2. How to connect extenders that were previously connected to a Telkom LTE router now that the rain modem does not have a WPS button. Like the extender for the DStv Explora.

General crap like this.

Geoff.

1. A Samsung Note 9 and a S7 Edge both are getting in excess of 250mbps. A Huawei Y9 Prime running Android 10 gets 50mbps. They seem to be seeing different WiFi hotspots, if that makes sense!

2. The latest rain indoor/outdoor CPE model, the same as the picture on the website.

1 - Could it be that the Samsungs are connecting to the 5GHz band while the Huawei is connecting to the 2.4GHZ band? The Huawei should be capable of connecting to the 5GHz but maybe it isn't seeing it

2 - Does the software portal on the CPE have software WPS? I've seen this on some other Huawei routers - you would click the button to enable WPS and then pair the devices

1 - I think that is exactly the problem. The Huawei is not 'seeing' the WiFi hotspot with the 5G in the name. The one I connect to is HUAWEI-5GCPE-DD33 while the Samsungs connect to HUAWEI-5GCPE-5G-DD33. Do you know how to fix that?

2 - I will have a look if it has a software WPS. Did not even think to have a look.

1 - Yes, it certainly seems to connect to 2.4GHz. But is this really an issue?

2 - I recommend a cable and not using a extender but let us know if it works.

1- Probably not, however, do you know how to make it connect to the 5GHz band?

Try going to the wifi settings in the phone and see if there are options there to allow 5GHZ networks or something, if the phone doesn't see the 5GHZ band by default

Hie , yes rain 5g has alot of issues of late with down time and tower issues, but according to our survey 5g needs a lot of tower setups in closer proximity, rain must be on the road to doing that,
answering your question, phones with lower wifi speeds will not run at the same speeds with those that can run at 5ghz. for more rain 5g installation here Rain 5g installers

Why does Rain choose the people it response to - I have had an issue with them for over 7 months - I keep getting useless responses - I am going to tell people in all Socials as I have been to not use Rain - its not worth it - once it does not work - you just have to accept its your money gone - but you will get billed no doubt - I have emails dating back from June - "We will be in contact with you"
