Got the 5G offering from Rain at the end of January, was so excited to get off ADSL. The first couple of weeks was fine, consistently running above 50Mbps, even got to 340 1 fluke day in April. Since 3rd week in March service became very intermittent, slowly digressing into nothingness and beyond. Last 3 days no service to speak of during the day and a trickle after 8 pm. Logging a call with auto-reply of "A rain agent will response to your query in the coming days." really adds to the user experience. That quote is a copy of their email, not my bad grammar. Had to get a Telkom LTE backup solution as an emergency stop-gap so that the kids and I could work. The optimiser website indicates I have good reception, just not actual internet access. The supplied router is crap. The only thing working fabulously is their billing process.

I feel your pain dude. At the en of January I moved over to rain5G as well (Telkom LTE completely degraded here and fibre is a faraway dream). In the beginning it was awesome. Till lockdown. Now on average I have about 5 hours of internet a day. I’m actually running my old rain4g mifi router to be able to work(and that is actually stable)

Hi vanderbank,

Please drop us a DM with the email address linked to your rain account so we can further investigate your query?

Service returned over the weekend but disappeared when Monday morning rolled in. Suspect retail customers are not getting Quality of Service.

I have sent 3 mails already since Friday and no response. I got the router and subscription on the 24th of last month and looked very promising... Last week something happened, was getting 100+- Mbps down and 15+- up and now I can hardly hold a connection drop and super low speeds.... Nothing changed from my side. I am afraid of getting that generic response that says "Make sure your router is pointing to the tower" or "Have you rebooted the router?"

edit: Support questions like that just looks like they would like to clear the ticket queue. Some actual investigation should be done since it's an issue in our area. NOTHING CHANGED FROM THE USER'S SIDE.

Worst feeling is paying so much for a service and then getting no help or response....
