So just a general question which has been bothering me since I got my RAIN 5G in February. What is the use of this 4G failover if it doesn't work? I mean it is great and all that it is there, but since I don't have the ability to turn off the 5G it is entirely useless to me.
This is apparent when we had rolling blackouts back then and now that it is back I was reminded of it again. If I have so much as one 5G bar, I can neither browse nor utilize the 4G which is at full signal during rolling blackouts. So what use does the 4G have for us 5G users?
Is there perhaps a hidden setting that I am missing where I am able to disable the 5G?

Other than this inconvenience I am happy with my over all speeds that I receive. I do however wish that RAIN would do something about their customer support. Many of my customers have asked me about whether they should get it or not. I then show them my speeds in excess of 500Mbps but the moment I mention the terrible customer support, all of them decided against it.

Isn't the 4G only meant for uploads? I don't think on the CPE in the current firmware we can use 4G for downloads.
Those are really great speeds - where is your CPE located (indoors / outdoors) and how far are you from a tower?

If it is only for uploads then it isn't clearly stated anywhere.
My CPE is installed indoors. Strangely enough, I got the best speeds indoors. When I moved it anywhere outdoors, my speeds dropped to 300Mbps (still not bad). And when I go onto RAIN's site and the site asks where it is installed, it says "we recommend installing it outdoors for better speeds" haha.
Once our rolling blackouts are over and I can use my RAIN again, I will share the tower locations with you.

As far as i know its not stated but that's how the technical setup is - 5G for downloads and 4G for uploads (that's why they are so different in speeds). Mine is also indoors - been wondering whether to mount it outside but getting decent 200Mb+ speeds so not gonna fiddle

The tower is almost in my back yard :p

Yes, unfortunately this Corona has been plaguing me constantly. :crying:
I am happy with the speeds. When I first got it, it took 34 minutes to download a steam game of 107GB.
