Still raining by me.I just woke at 1am to find the wind and rain have stopped in Kenilworth, after many hours of persistent heavy falls. There may still be showers, but the majority of the front has passed. The wind will soon swing to Southerly, as the South Atlantic High ridges in behind the front. It will remain cool for several days.
I haven't been checking recently (due to mostly boring weather), but the SAEON Dwarsberg mountain catchment weather station is active again (after some downtime). It reported a phenomenal 108mm during Monday 14th (measuring period up to midnight), and 70mm on Tues 15th!
The heavier than expected rainfall has produced some runoff, but the low soil moisture levels are a limitation, except on a few high elevation summits. Dam levels have started to creep up (mostly the Berg River), but will not rise consistently from a single weather event.
There will be further significant weather events this week, mostly affecting the rest of the country, but little further rainfall for CT itself.
I still have the group photo we took somewhere, I must actually try to find it some time.Yes, I couldn't see Constantiaberg at 5pm, so it clearly started raining in the South earlier than here.
Yeah, can see rain over the CBD at 5:45pm (fully wet by now in Kenilworth).
