8C here currently, but thankfully have the fireplace going in my little office renovation we just did.
Nice and balmy in here.
Last night was trying with it dropping to 6C, supposed to get down to 5C tonight.

Multiple different model runs show a massive pair of cold-fronts next week (Tues 20th to Thurs 22nd), that have the potential to produce very widespread snow (across 8 provinces in SA and southern Namibia), with unusually low freezing levels (possibly down to 900m).
This is still fairly far out in the forecast, but the last few predictions have been broadly consistent. I will post more details closer to the time, as the models become clearer.

The two sites use exactly the same model data (not independent), just the outputs vary: map vs point source, and different details. At long durations (5-7 days) the uncertainties are very great, and I prefer not to post details so soon. A change of 2-3C in temperature can change the outcome from lots of snow to none (at low level). Stay tuned...

- It could all change but TM is set to receive up to 14 cm of snow!!! (temp -1C wind chill -10C)
- 50cm of snow for Matroosberg
- Those sheep farmers better get their herds in with 25cm for high lying areas like koue bokkeveld/sutherland
- Even the N1 could close at Hex River Pass (over 10cm)

I'd take those figures with a pinch of salt (and not just because the forecast can change). Whenever you see rain and snow in the same 6 hour period, it usually ends up as slush. When temperatures fluctuate over a period, the snow is unlikely to accumulate to any great depth. Wed 21st is definitely looking like the best day for the SW-Cape.
