The water level in my well is significantly lower. Normally it's 3.5m to the water. Now it's about 1m from the surface.

My dad (Betty's Bay) is taking a trip to Palmiet bridge now to find out what's happening ... I will update here if he lets me know.
Ok, so like others have already confirmed, you may only cross by foot ... you may drop people on either side.
They we're stopped at the "sewerage farms" on Betty's side for those that know the area.

In the meantime, the town has no power at all because it was cut completely during the storm, and it is understood that Eskom is struggling to access the area.
Once the bridge collapsed on Monday, guest houses worked together to place stranded guests, doing quick room turnovers, to get them off the road as requested by the disaster management centre.

The Cape Winelands District Municipality has sent an urgent request to the provincial disaster management nerve centre for food, water, milk and other basics to be airdropped in McGregor, as the town remains cut off after its access bridge washed away during the severe storm that lashed the region.

Another Update: They let a van/small truck through over the bridge to drop stock at a few shops (bread milk sugar etc) ... The driver told my brother that the Traffic official said they might open the bridge for stop/go, one lane one vehicle at a time. This might happen as soon as tonight even, but the problem is staff to man these points at this moment in time
