Hi.

I'm trying to use a VPN client connected to a RAIN SIM, and getting an error saying that the NAT type is unfriendly : this security appliance is behind a VPN-unfriendly NAT, which can be caused by upstream load balancers or strict firewall rules.

Anyone using RAIN for remote VPN users ?

Hi,

I know of other users that have successfully VPN'd out. I also use a corporate VPN without issues.
Not sure if I am using UDP/TCP.

looks like your vpn client wants a public ip which rain doesnt provide

I have used openvpn udp before and as far as I know cloudflare warp is udp based and it works

Client is on RAIN, and has operated under other MNO CGNAT.

First time I'm trying it with RAIN; I know Vodacom has a non-CGNAT APN, does RAIN have similar ?

Test with another free VPN offering.
My VPN certainly works on Rain.

If they connect directly to the router, check some settings on the router, perhaps their are "services" that "help" the VPN. I know SIP Helper does the exact opposite, perhaps the same thing with a VPN Helper.

Only the fixed lte product had non nat IP's

None of the other products offer this unfortunately

The normal LTE was always branded as mobile, ie for phone use, but 5g is not branded for mobile so their argument for CGNAT for this doesnt make sense
