Hi

Since yesterday , my rain keeps dropping connection. Anybody else with the same issue ? I actually had to switch to Vodacom data to work.

I'm in the PTA Waverly/Rietfontein area.

I've resorted to playing Single player games in the evenings for the last couple of days due to the Rain connection dropping the whole time, as well as severe packet loss, rubberbanding, ping spikes etc. Netflix and Youtube streaming on the TV even keeps on buffering and bombing out. The router shows 5G and 4G with 4/5 signal bars yet you cannot open anything, Netflix, Games, Internet, Ping, traceroute everything fails, and then just randomly I would have connection again.

Again as per all my previous posts this is just in the evenings or during what I can only say high-traffic or usage times. This morning at around 2 AM I had to do a remote support call and I was hitting 380 down and 60 up, connection silky smooth. Woke up again at 6 and immediately checked my connection and I still had 300ish down and 60ish up. 2 Hours later (at 8ish this morning) getting disconnected from all my RDP sessions, voice breaking up on Voip etc. Just did a speedtest 12 down 0.2 up. But a couple of hours ago I was 300 and 60?

I'm in Mountain View, not far from you.

Yip.. same. I never had issues (for 2-3 months). Since yesterday.. it went pear shape.

I experienced similar issues during my brief experience with Rain. I used my Sim in the same router at two different premises, each of them having direct LOS to the nearest tower.

Connected to the first tower (100m away) I would get pretty solid symmetrical speeds throughout the day and night but the connection would be periodically dropped completely requiring a restart of the router. This drop would usually not happen if I was actively streaming or downloading so while it was annoying I was willing to live with it for the price I was paying and not having any alternative.

Connected to the second tower (700m away) the connection never dropped completely as it did before but I would get speeds that were basically unusable. Usually less than 1 down and about 2 up. Thankfully there was fibre at this new premises so cancelled Rain.
