I have this strange problem yesterday and am wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
I have a Rain 5g Premium service and up till yesterday it has been working ok.

I use a few services that require I update and confirm my external IP address. Yesterday afternoon, one of these services stopped working so I went to the account page and updated the IP address. Minute later, it stopped again. I checked my ip address and saw that it had changed again.

Since then, the external IP address keeps changing every minute or so. I turned the router off for a few hours this morning in vain hope that it would sort out the IP changing problem but with no luck. It seems that it changes between 197.184.180.*** and 41.216.202.***
The service I use suggested I could use a dynamic IP address service so I had a look at Noip and unfortunately their client only checks and updates every 5 mins which doesn't help with Rain external IP address changing every minute.

I rang rain customer support and they tell me its normal for the IP address to change and as such they don't see this as a issue even if its changing every minute and more or less told me to get lost.
So I am at a loss as to what to do.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so, what did you do to resolve it?

Well, this is interesting.
From yesterday I am battling with downloading files (a large number) from my FTP site. It downloads one or two and then hangs. No problem in downloading them via FTP while using Vodacom or Cell-C.
I've never had this problem with Rain 5G before.
When I log into my site control panel, I get in but when moving between options there, every now and again I get "Your IP address has changed" and I have to log in again.
Had you not mentioned the IP address changing so often I might not have picked this up. I suspect the same is happening with FTP, and it hangs when the IP address changes...
I've been corresponding with Rain here via pvt message. I will point them to this post as I think that something has gone wrong with the software that changes the IP and it's doing it too often.
I have also switched off the router for 15 minutes, but this did not help.

Yip, same here.

Interesting, cant say I've seen any issues, could it not perhaps be based on connections?
IE; one connection gets routed one way, another connection another.
"Outbound load balancing" if you will.

I cannot download batches of files via FTP from my FTP site. It downloads it hangs on logon or if it logged on it downloads 1 to 3 files and the hangs on with "Xfering" then "Retry". The rest of the files just remain "Pending".
If I use Vodacom or Cell-C the downloads proceed smoothly from the same site.

Hi all, we are aware of this and we will be making some changes in the next few days. For most users this had no impact and is transparent to them, for your use cases it is somewhat problematic. We will have a stable solution in the next week or so.

Can you tell us what the reason why this has happened? Also because it hasn’t been fixed yet, I am still unable to use certain services.
I did think I might have been able to deal with it by using a dynamic dns service and assigning it in the router but there’s no option on the rain provided router so that’s a no.

Smells like carrier grade nat to me ... Been having this on Telkom mobile since the dawn of time.

Yes, but with other stuff, usually you are NATted behind a single IP at a time, now, we're breaking out from many IPs which is unusual.
