So I have had the R479 package from Rain for around 6 months. The stability of the connection in 2020 wasn't perfect but it was connected most of the time.

From around 2nd or 3rd January 2021 the connection has been so unstable that I am able to do anything when connected to the router broadcasting Rain's signal in my home.

The devices in my home lose connection on an hourly basis for several minutes at a time, I have had the router inspected and not faults were found.

I have tried their solution of moving the router to another place as well as logging a support request but their site won't accept my street address to finalize the ticket submission.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Hi @Janru Faber

Please provide me with your email via PM and i will assist you.

You're not alone. For the last couple weeks it is barely able to open a webpage nevermind Youtube at 144p on my phone

Same here , on R479 24/7 4G package , Aurora in Durbanville CT , have been experiencing a steady deterioration in speed & stability also since Jan 2021 . Furthermore their connection only lasts for approx 90mins during a 120-150 mins loadshedding . It's actually becoming almost totally unusable and this last weekend thought its time to ditch Rain and avoid further frustration .

Funny enough , there was an enquiry on our Neighbourhood Whatsapp Group only this morning as follows :

"Good morning neighbours ...Does anyone use RAIN 4G ? Could you message me if you do and your thoughts and quality , please and thank you"

... Can't wait to provide my opinion !

SO FRUSTRATING !
#rain 4g unlimited 24/7
Dont think I can put up with this much longer . Constant buffering when streaming , no problem on Telkom mobile !!!!Screenshot_20210208-180938_MyBroadband%20Speed%20Test.jpg

Same here, Rain has nerfed LTE, purposefully I suppose. Maybe they are preparing to force subscribers to 5G as the only viable option.

I keep repeating the same.
It's a network, not a tower.
Their entire network is misconfigured, slow and they don't have the capacity for current subscribers. Their network can't support it. It's either due to crap hardware, physical limitations or software issues.

If it's none of the above, they are intentionally sabotaging their clients.

That's true, but for me it was full speed all the way until the start of Jan, the sudden change can only be due to purposeful limitations, especially considering its happening all over.

I tried the service where I stay around late last year. It was unusable. A 56K modem was faster.
I had full reception on a new Huawei Router.
