Rain LTE-A East Rand

Ordered my Rain LTE-A through MWEB today.
Should receive the router and SIM tomorrow, will share my experience with you guys.

I am based in Ravenswood, Boksburg. Might help some other MyBB members in the East Rand make the switch from super ****ty ADSL to something in between fibre and LTE.

Yip. That mweb deal is Rain. Many people saying good things... but the proof is in the pudding. Lets see if it will stay good in the long run.

I've heard many things sofar.. mostly good.

Update: Got a call from a courier company this afternoon, they will be dispatching the router and SIM, should receive it by Wednesday or so.

Ur in gauteng.. you should have good speeds. Most of JHB is covered.

I'm in Atlasville, Boksburg, so not that far away and I've been on Rain for about 2 weeks now. Very happy so far. Consistently getting speeds between 10-30Mbps, no latency issues yet (WoW & BF 1). Way better than the crappy 4Mbps ADSL I used to have.

Update: Got an SMS from the courier that the Router+SIM will be delivered today between 9am and 5pm - Will update you all when received. So far the process has been completely self-service, I haven't had to call MWEB once.

Got the unit here. Called MWEB to activate the Rain SIM, they say it will take up to 24 hours to activate. So I will update once activated.

So I've given it a test run and it's been a pretty good experience!

I have the following speeds:

22 Mbps down - 18Mbps up

I've played Guild Wars 2, and League of Legends. My LoL ping is 194 - 205 and my GW2 Ping is 200-228

Very good experience!

With MWEB, get 240GB per month of data cap and it's R999 per month.

Once the cap is depleted you need to top-up, there is no OOB shark

Stay in the South of Boksburg - luck when I get 10Mbps. Work in Midrand and get 120Mbps!! Go figure

Staying in Springs, near the new Mall.

Without antenna very poor performance.
With antenna getting 19ms ping 30-50mbps down and 8-10mbps up. (Using XPOL2-V2)

Playing POE latency 180-185ms. So far good going.
