Hi guys,

Has anyone else experienced a drop in performance on the RAIN LTE-A network lately? Latency in particular is a lot higher for me at times. I got ping response times of between 10 and 15 SECONDS last night :-(

I'm in Edenvale.

Thanks

I signed up in September 2017 and had great speeds up to early November.

initial speeds 25 mbps now 8 mbps.

Just tested a Cell C sim with same modem (B618) and exact location and i am getting 96.36 mbps!

Spoke to rain and they said they congested and are busy upgrading towers.

Just cancelled service today. Moving to Cell C fixed.

Hmm... suspected that the network would get too congested, but didn't think it would happen this quickly.

So much for their claims of "fibre-to-the-sky" and "so forget everything you know about 'fixed' and 'mobile' networks and get ready to experience the Internet with our next-generation LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network" :-(

Sadly I have no Cell-C LTE-anything coverage, no fibre available, and ADSL at 4Mbps max..... will keep looking for options. I originally registered here looking for connectivity options, and 10 years later the search continues....

Ah best decision ever. Cell C for the win

Here is their official response!

Hi,

The Rain network is aware of all the issues on it's network currently.
They have committed to dealing with it but its going to take some time.

They have many upgrades thats needed and their products did record sales / growth with the double deal causing some issues.

There is other clients experiencing exactly the same issues as you are currently.

Thank you.

Buzybuy Support Team.

Agree, the network speeds have gone down and also, there are quiet a few interruptions.

Well at least they were honest by mentioning that it would take time for them to resolve their Sh*tty network. I guess it’s time to jump ship for you.

FYI ordered my Cell C package last night

I want to move to Cell-C's LTE-A but scared it will get congested like RAIN

I can almost guarantee you this will happen to CELL C, As far as i'm concerned CELL C has the worst customer service from all the telecoms companies.

Mmmmh I beg to differ, I have received nothing but the best service ever from Cell C, their customer agents have solved all my problems and queries efficiently and they always get back to me when they say they will, their network has also improved by a huge margin at least where I am.

But then again everyone’s experience is different .

Haha Epah you almost sound like a CELL C Rep, Nah jokes aside, Each to hes own i suppose and past experiences.

Ill go buy a CELL C Sim and test LTE at my house tonight.

Hahaha sorry I sound like a rep but I am just stating my experience with them, I did hate Cell c at some point because they were useless, but I came back to them 2 years ago and their service has been great. Even have LTE-A in my area and I signed up for their fixed LTE. Just waiting for delivery.

If and when the network deteriorated due to congestion I will come back here and report.

Do you know if Axxess also offers the the month to month subscription ? i do not like contracts.

How is Axxess services in general ?

Worse than Telkom, those are some BIG statements, Telkom is the undefeated, undisputed, worse customer service champion on SA :p.

Yes axxess only deals with month to month, they don’t do contracts so you may cancel anytime.

I don’t know how their services are since this is my first time dealing with them.

I signed u last Friday. The CellC LTE deals seems to be month to month if you take sim only.

If you take the router you will
Have to pay for it if you cancel within a certain time period, however it doesn’t state the time period so I will just assume it’s 6 months since that’s what they had with the Rain LTE deals
