Hi guys so I ordered a rain SIM, it's the unlimited off peak R250 pm. I just have a question. Can I turn off / deactivate this service when I don't want to use it and not be billed at the end of the month ? Eg. use it for say 3 months then stop and use it again when I need to ?

Also I did message Rain Facebook page and this was their response regarding my question.

"Thank you for contacting rain ,hope you are well

When a sim card is cancelled you have a specific time to retract that cancellation .If you wish to use the sim card again then you can remove the unlimited off peak and set your gig limit to 0 .Therefore you will not be billed for the sim card until you are ready to use it again .How ever you will still be billed unlimited for the month that it was removed ."

Could anyone explain what is meant by " billed unlimited " or how their billing system works.
Thank you.

Yes you can cancel anytime, and the leftover is just billed prorata, which you can then re-upgrade at another time, but that's in a perfect world, you might hit some bumps talking and interfacing with their help centre and clients but everything should work out in the end.

I cancelled a few months back and when I logged in again I had to apply/purchase a new package.

ah yea correct, I thought they'd have rectified all that by now lol but rain will be rain

At OP - it sounds like the facebook rep was saying that you can "pause" the service say in the middle of the month by just switching off the 19hrs peak AND setting your gig limit to 0. You will however still have to pay at the end of that month for the data used and I highly doubt it'll be pro rata - so you will pay the R250 at month end but thats it. Sim would still be active but you won't be able to use it unless you either switch back on the 19hrs unlimited or increase your gig limit at R50 per gig so if you increase it to R100 you will only have 2gigs to use even at peak time.

When you are ready to use the service again switch on the 19hrs and you are good to go - just note that should you activate the service again say on the 15th of the month it'll only kick in at the 1st of the following month.

Unless things have changed thats how it'll all work.
