My friend and I decided to get dual SIM phones and a Rain SIM each. For the life of me we couldn't find the coverage map even after emailing support. Their website says you can find it on their website with no link, go figure. When mine arrived a realised a couple of things. The download speed in my house is around 5 megs and outside around 10 megs. There goes the 4G concept they are lying about obviously. I had to go to Garsfontein in Pretoria and had no coverage when I needed it. Also no network when I arrived in Midrand. Then another disaster. My friends SIM arrived. We went online activated it and waited the suggested 24 hours. Still nothing. 3 calls to the call centre where the SIM was said to be active. Checked again on the dashboard that confirmed that the SIM is active. Off so Samsung store to help us. He double checked the apn settings and called rain support twice. Every time they confirmed all ok and nothing wrong on their side. Upon arriving home security told her there is a delivery. She collected it to realise it was another rain network SIM? Strange as she ordered one only.

We inserted it called them back. Giving them the info they checked the newly arrived SIM number and told her that is the correct one. How the fk they only realise it only on call number 5 after telling us her previous SIM is active?

Now her SIM is working but the dashboard still shows the old SIM number?

Also she's been using it for a few weeks and according to her rain dashboard she has used no data and she's not being billed
That's the only good news so far.

There was most likely a problem with the 1st sim, that's why they send a new sim. Also since the dashboard gives the old sim detail, it will also show the usage of the old sim. Just talk to support and tell them that the dashboard is showing the wrong sim card. Their chat support is very good.

5 Mbps is great compared to speeds many are getting...as a brief search on this forum will indeed attest to.

I myself was getting those speeds ( 3-8mbps) for over a year until I moved to MTN fixed LTE.

I would even hazard to say it's an average speed across their use base considering their heavily over subscribed R250 uncapped package and tower congestion.
